The repression of political dissent in Britain has been escalating for years: first against Black Lives Matter and environmental campaigners and now the Palestine solidarity movement. Throughout the last 20 months, campaigners have been demonised, accused of ‘radicalisation’, placed under increasing police surveillance and subjected to a toxic and invariably racist discourse in both Westminster and the mainstream media. All of this has been deliberately designed to undermine the legitimacy of calls for action on Gaza and to encourage the public, especially Jewish communities, to feel fearful of Palestine protesters.

Every year, I do a post on the inequality of global wealth using the annual data compiled by economists working for the Swiss bank, Credit Suisse. But Credit Suisse is now no more, swept away by scandal and the banking crisis of 2023. The other major Swiss bank, UBS, took over the assets of CS and now produces its own annual Global Wealth report. It’s not so clear and useful as the CS ones were, but nevertheless, it still produces a global wealth pyramid, as below.

Absurdly, the direct action protest group has now been designated by the Israel-backed UK regime as a proscribed “terrorist” group (despite the fact that it does not use violence and has never harmed people, as opposed to property).

On Friday, Huda Ammori, co-founder of the pro-Palestinian group Palestine Action, lost her bid to halt the UK government’s move to ban the group under anti-terror laws while she challenges the decision in court.
Ammori, who co-founded the group in 2020, had asked London’s High Court to delay the government’s proscription of Palestine Action as a ‘terrorist organization’ until a full legal hearing later this month, where she argues the ban is unlawful.
The UK government moved to outlaw the group this week after its members broke into a Royal Air Force base and damaged two aircraft in protest of Britain’s support for the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
If the ban proceeds, it would be a criminal offense to belong to Palestine Action, carrying a maximum prison sentence of 14 years.

This move, to proscribe a group that engages in activities designed to halt weapons transfers to Israel, will be unprecedented in British history. By labelling Palestine Action a terrorist organisation, they are criminalising opposition to war, all to please the Zionist Lobby.
