Police assaulted peaceful protesters in London on Friday as the High Court considered Palestine Action’s emergency application for their ban to be frozen. (Still from my video)

On The Electronic Intifada livestream on Thursday, we discussed the then-forthcoming UK ban of Palestine Action.

Absurdly, the direct action protest group has now been designated by the Israel-backed UK regime as a proscribed “terrorist” group (despite the fact that it does not use violence and has never harmed people, as opposed to property).

Will “terrorist” ban stop Palestine Action?

In the discussion segment, we talked about the practical implications of the ban, what is now likely to happen and the prospects for civil disobedience against this new proscription in the UK.

Since we initially broadcast this discussion on Thursday, Palestine Action’s bid for interim relief the following day failed at the High Court and the Court of Appeal.

The ban went into effect at midnight on Friday night.

No comments on Palestine Action ban in place from midnight

Palestine Action ban in place from midnight

    Friday, 8 July 2025 — NetPol

From midnight on Friday 4 July, Palestine Action will become a banned terrorist organisation.

Yvette Cooper’s decision to ban the group came after a protest at RAF Brize Norton, in which red paint was thrown on military jets. Four people have been remanded in custody after the action, to appear in court at the Old Bailey on 18 July.

The government has created an extraordinary precedent that future protests involving criminal damage – like spraying a plane with paint – may face an increased likelihood of the same terrifying label and subsequent criminalisation and demonisation. You can read Netpol’s statement on the decision here.

Despite a long history of anti-militarist action at airbases which has not been treated as terrorism, despite the latest court ruling in which the UK government accepted there is a clear risk that Israel is committing war crimes using UK-supplied armaments, and despite hundreds of expert lawyers and legal academics warning that this ban is a “terrifying blow to our civil liberties“, the government have declared Palestine Action a ‘terrorist’ group.

Counter-terrorism laws are used in an explictly racist and Islamophobic way, and give the police wide ranging and poorly defined powers.

We’ve produced an explainer to help you understand what the ban will mean in practice. The guide covers:

    • What the law says about terrorism and proscribed organisations
    • What actions and expressions of support will be banned
    • What the legal penalties for breaking this ban are

We also answer some common questions about what will and won’t be considered a potential criminal offence. The law criminalizes a wide range of actions, and it remains to be seen how the police plan to enforce this. We’re working on expanding this FAQ, so send your questions to info@netpol.org. Netpol will be monitoring the impact in the coming weeks and you can also report police incidents to us this way.

Read the full guide on the Netpol website now, and share it on BlueSky, Instagram and Facebook to help us get this guidance out.

Palestine Action head tells the UK high court to delay the British government’s terrorist proscription

    Friday, 8 June 2025 — MintPress News

    UPDATE

On Friday, Huda Ammori, co-founder of the pro-Palestinian group Palestine Action, lost her bid to halt the UK government’s move to ban the group under anti-terror laws while she challenges the decision in court.

Ammori, who co-founded the group in 2020, had asked London’s High Court to delay the government’s proscription of Palestine Action as a ‘terrorist organization’ until a full legal hearing later this month, where she argues the ban is unlawful.

The UK government moved to outlaw the group this week after its members broke into a Royal Air Force base and damaged two aircraft in protest of Britain’s support for the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

If the ban proceeds, it would be a criminal offense to belong to Palestine Action, carrying a maximum prison sentence of 14 years.

    3 July 2025 — The Tricontinental

Youssef Abdelké (Syria), Red Figures, 1994.

    Dear friends,

Greetings from the desk of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research.

A decade ago, I was a fly on the wall during a trade negotiation between the United States and a small country in Southeast Asia. What interested me was not the substance of the negotiation, the deliberations around an issue of minor concern to world affairs but of great concern to this one country, but the disproportionality between the personnel at the negotiating table.

    Monday, 30 June 2025 — MintPress News

This move, to proscribe a group that engages in activities designed to halt weapons transfers to Israel, will be unprecedented in British history. By labelling Palestine Action a terrorist organisation, they are criminalising opposition to war, all to please the Zionist Lobby.

If you thought RAF jets were owned by the RAF, think again.

The RAF squadron targeted for a repaint by Palestine Action due to its involvement in supplying Israel’s genocide, does not in fact belong to the RAF at all. It belongs ultimately to Polygon Global Partners LLP, a Hedge Fund. (more…)

US Message at Shangri La: Following US Wars in Europe, Africa, & the Middle East, Asia’s Next

Sunday, 29 June 2025 — The New Atlas

US Secretary Hegseth’s speech was not an offering of peace and stability to Asia, it is the holding of its hostage in exchange for subordination to Washington and Wall Street and the continued primacy of Western interests over Asia decades into the future.

Only time will tell if Asia is prepared to work with China to protect and preserve the hard-fought peace, stability, and prosperity built up together in the decades the US was “distracted” burning much of the rest of Eurasia to the ground, or whether short-sighted, self-serving leaders maneuvered into power through US political interference in the region will succeed in spreading Washington’s death and destruction consuming Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East to Asia as well.“

On the 12 of June, the world’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), issued a damning statement that accused Iran of being in breach of its commitments to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Gaza’s US-Israeli ‘aid’ laced with Narcotics

Friday, 27 June 2025 — Al Mayadeen English

The Government Media Office in Gaza has strongly condemned what it described as “a heinous crime” after discovering Oxycodone pills hidden inside flour bags distributed through US-Israeli aid centers, widely referred to as “death traps.”

Authorities have documented multiple citizen testimonies confirming the presence of these narcotics, sounding the alarm that “some may have been deliberately ground into or dissolved within the flour itself.”

The office accused “Israel” of using narcotics as a “soft weapon” in a systematic effort to destroy Palestinian society, calling it “a war crime and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.”

It urged Palestinians to avoid these centers, inspect all aid products carefully, and report suspicious findings. It also called on international bodies, including the UN Human Rights Council and the International Criminal Court (ICC), to intervene, shut down the centers, and ensure aid is delivered solely through official UN and international institutions.

Israel Monetizes Genocide in the Gaza Strip

Friday, 27 June 225 — Al Mayadeen English

Private contractors working with Israeli occupation forces in Gaza are being paid 5,000 shekels (around $1,500) for every Palestinian home they demolish, according to testimonies from Israeli soldiers reported by Haaretz.

An occupation fighter described the situation: “From their perspective, any moment where they’re not demolishing houses is a loss of money, and the forces have to secure their work.”

The demolitions often take place near aid routes and residential areas, leading to deadly confrontations with civilians.

“For a contractor to make another 5,000 shekels and take down a house, it’s deemed acceptable to kill people who are only looking for food,” one soldier confessed.

This demolition-for-profit system is another facet of “Israel’s” genocidal war on Gaza.

I’m writing to you today with an urgent request for support for a crucial campaign that needs our collective help to succeed.

A vital legal effort has launched a CrowdJustice page to fund its important work. This campaign is dedicated to challenging a new uniform policy at Barts Health NHS Trust that bans any visible expressions of support for Palestinians. This policy was imposed following pressure from UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI).
