Europe’s future looks bleak. It is now pressed by its own imposition of sanctions, and the resultant spike in commodity prices. The EU is lumbering around in a daze.
Western self-destruction – a puzzle defying any unique causal explanation – continues. The examples where policy is pursued in apparent indifference to anything resembling rigorous reflection, has become so extreme as to provoke a former British military chief (and former head of NATO forces in Afghanistan), Lord Richards, to huff that the relationship between strategy and any synchronisation of ends has become hopelessly broken in the West.
I was walking down that improbably long central corridor in a group of about eight mainstream prisoners heading for legal visits, when panic broke out among the escorting guards. About a hundred yards further down, and coming towards us, was an overweight and bearded old man walking with a zimmer frame and wearing the maroon shirt of a protected prisoner.
Gonzalo Lira may not be name known to many in the West, but he certainly has a firm grip on current affairsSundays are more usually dedicated to less serious articles than this, yet a video posted by Gonzalo Lira gives a lot of pause for thought. This longer article will look at the reasons events may happen as well as the events themselves. In the interests of brevity, links will be provided to previous posts in order that the reader gain a better understanding of certain key points without making this article inordinately long. The logistical corridor to the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad has been cut off by the Lithuanians. What might this mean? Photo©️TassLast week saw the Lithuanian government prohibit the transport of EU sanctioned goods across its territory from the Russian Federation to the exclave of Kaliningrad. This article subsequent to a previous one that examined the Baltic states from another angle, will look at what this means and what reaction this may elicit from Moscow.

Badly equipped and out of his depth. In all honesty, this is the best fate for those who have been forced to fight. Photo©️ФорпостMuch has been made over recent months concerning the weapons that western nations have given to the Ukrainian government, yet an increasingly pressing issue is beginning to make itself felt as Kiev’s efforts to bring the Russians to a halt turns is actually turning into a rout that accelerates by the day. That problem is a lack of personnel and this article is going to examine why this is becoming just one more dilemma facing the Ukrainian government in Kiev.

The Guardian has put out a smear piece on critics of the imperial Syria narrative that reads like propaganda made by seven year-olds without adult supervision.
The article was initially released under the headline “Russia-backed network of Syria conspiracy theorists identified,” which was then hastily edited to “Network of Syria conspiracy theorists identified,” because the article does not even make an attempt to argue that all of the so-called “conspiracy theorists” it smears are backed by the Russian government. It claims only that the Russian government has at times cited and amplified information about Syria which is inconvenient for the US empire, which, you know, duh. Obviously it’s going to do that.
(L-R) Romanian President Iohannis, Italian PM Draghi, Ukrainian President Zelensky, French President Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held a press conference in Kyiv, Ukraine, on 16 June 2022.Henry Kissinger predicted some three weeks ago that the Ukraine war was dangerously close to becoming a war against Russia. That was a prescient remark. The NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in a weekend interview told Germany’s Bild am Sonntag newspaper that in the alliance’s estimation, the Ukraine war could wage for years.

At St. Petersburg on Friday, backers of multipolarity pushed forward integration of their networks * Photo Credit: The CradleThe St. Petersburg International Economic Forum has been configured for years now as absolutely essential to understand the evolving dynamics and the trials and tribulations of Eurasia integration.
St. Petersburg in 2022 is even more crucial as it directly connects to three simultaneous developments I had previously outlined, in no particular order:
It’s been a big week for the major central banks. First, the European Central Bank (ECB) called an emergency meeting because government bond yields were rising sharply in the more indebted Eurozone economies like Italy and Spain. That threatens to deliver a new sovereign debt crisis as happened after the Great Recession from 2010-2014, leading to the Greek nightmare.
This morning I watched an hour long discussion (vid) by ‘experts’ at the Center for Strategic & International Studies about assessing Russia’s war in Ukraine. I have to say that these folks know nothing that is relevant. They seem to have never heard of Sun Tsu’s dictum ‘Know your enemy’:

British Home Secretary Priti Patel has authorized the extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to the United States to be tried under the Espionage Act in a case which seeks to set a legal precedent for the prosecution of any publisher or journalist, anywhere in the world, who reports inconvenient truths about the US empire.
The catastrophic economic consequences of the ‘western’ proxy war with Russia are setting in. As a result the high inflation, caused by supply side constrains due to sanctions and far too much spending, will ruin the middle classes of many countries.

Such wild swings signal rank opportunism. These are extraordinary times when to be smart is equated as being opportunistic.
UK Home Secretary Priti Patel has made her decision. This morning, she ordered Julian Assange’s extradition to the United States.
The co-chairs of The Assange Defense Committee – Noam Chomsky, Daniel Ellsberg, and Alice Walker – released the following statement in response to Patel’s decision:
