UK Home Secretary Priti Patel has made her decision. This morning, she ordered Julian Assange’s extradition to the United States.

I wondered why readership, according to my WordPress stats, has plummeted since March of this year and it’s because the Google ‘search’ engine is filtering out searches that include ‘williambowles.info’ as part of the address. It’s no doubt connected to my coverage of events in the Ukraine, given the date, March 2022, when the Russian military operation began. It also implies that these censoring tools were already in place!
Using Startpage instead of Google, results in just a handful of additional results but because Startpage uses the Google engine, this was to be expected.
The best so far have been DuckDuckGo and Ecosia which both return actual links to articles on this site. Google, by comparison, returns just 2 hits, the home page and the About page, that’s all I get! So that explains why I’m now getting so few visits, censorship. I might add, that there are over 27,000 stories on this site and no doubt, people doing specific searches would be denied access to any hits on this site!
And another thing about Google; it’s insinuated itself into the essential elements that make the Internet work, making it de facto indispensible to its functioning. I proved this to myself a couple of months ago by canceling my Google subscription and a lot of things I did normally on the Internet, no longer worked!
Corporate capitalism at work, creating an effective monopoly out of what was meant to be a shared, collective resource.
I might also add that it’s only because I have around 1000 subscribers, possibly a lot more via my old Google Feedburner feed that I no longer have access to, that I get the readership that I do. But of course, what the Google censor does is deny access to alternative views of events that people might be searching for. It’s insidious and apparently legal! Isn’t democracy wonderful.
I have since discovered that virtually all independent news and information sites are getting the same treatment! This is blanket censorship across a vast range of sources!

This past week, as part of its policy to dominate the American hemisphere, the United States government organised the 9th Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles. US President Joe Biden made it clear early on that three countries in the hemisphere (Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela) would not be invited to the event, claiming that they are not democracies. At the same time, Biden was reportedly planning an upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia – a self-described theocracy. Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador questioned the legitimacy of Biden’s exclusionary stance, and so Mexico, Bolivia, and Honduras refused to come to the event. As it turned out, the summit was a fiasco.

The uprisings of 1976 and the Fees Must Fall protests of 2015, almost 40 years later, were important turns in the continuing fight for the true emancipation of a majority of South Africans.
Even though the 1994 settlement was an important political moment, it did not do much to dismantle the systems that propped up both colonialism and apartheid. The security apparatus, for example, still exists to exert control, to protect power, to protect capital. And the path to a better life for many of the country’s people is full of obstacles, many of which are structural. These are systems that were designed to benefit a few. That pattern remains. Until such systems are removed, South Africa will know no progress or equity.
Let’s consider the differences in Grand Strategy that play into tactical prowess
In the Western corporate media, you often hear of Russian casualties and destruction and how many economic benefits Russians are deprived of as a result of the military operation in Ukraine. They speak of Russian “isolation” and how much that isolation supposedly costs Russia and her people, even to the point of predicting that the Russian government would topple under the weight of sanctions. You hear about how much Russia has lost in this period of history, as Western leaders, from President Biden to Ursula von der Leyen, attempt to portray the policies of the West as imposing supreme costs upon the Russian state. Yet do we consider the opposite? Do we consider how Russia is benefitting militarily from the conflict? Do we consider how much the Russian economy is growing in importance while ours wavers from self-imposed wounds? Dare we say, even, that Russia could even win an expanded conflict with the Western alliance? Let’s consider how differences in grand strategy yield surprising results.
