BBC News regularly proclaims its supposed editorial principles of fearless, independent, impartial, fair and accurate journalism. In a January 2023 speech to the Whitehall & Industry Group in London, then BBC Chairman Richard Sharp boasted that BBC journalism is the ‘global gold standard’ of credible news reporting.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa / French President Emmanuel Macron (Paris, June 23, 2023)Popular backlash against France’s brutal yet ineffective counter-terrorism operations is compelling President Emmanuel Macron to withdraw forces from across Africa. Last November, Senegal and Chad humiliated Macron by demanding base closures, only days after his personal envoy unveiled plans to shore up his slipping foothold.[1] Recently, the Ivory Coast ousted about 1,000 French soldiers, compounding the sense that France’s military strategy in Africa is in a state of crisis.[2]

A couple of years ago I wrote about my experiences at a Canadian academic conference on “disinformation” and how a Disinformation Industrial Complex (DIC) was being constructed to trash, restrict and even get banned anyone who dares stray from the establishment narrative provided by the mainstream media. A response to the internet serving to democratize information with the inevitable collapse in the legitimacy and reach of the mainstream media. I have also recently written about the extensive Western disinformation campaigns to sell the establishment narrative that supports the hegemonic culture used to help control the population, including the use of both fake “left” and fake “right” front groups, influencers, journalists, academics and content creators.

A Long-Standing Genocide
The genocide against Palestinians is often framed as having begun in 1947–48 during the Nakba, when Zionist militias forcibly expelled over 750,000 Palestinians, massacred entire villages, and systematically destroyed more than 500 Palestinian communities. Others attempt to situate its origins even later, as an escalation in October 2023, when Israel launched its most devastating military assault on Gaza to date. However, these narratives, while acknowledging crucial moments of mass violence, erase the long history of systematic Zionist efforts to eliminate Palestinians. Framing the genocide as a product of either the Nakba or recent military offensives treats it as episodic rather than as part of a continuous, unfolding project of destruction that began well before 1948.

How necropolitics is applied to Gaza (Illustrated by Batoul Chamas; Al Mayadeen English)
By
As Gaza’s death toll rises, the concept of necropolitics is explored, revealing a deliberate strategy of destruction and disposability, where “Israel’s” sovereignty is defined through the erasure of Palestinian life.

We live in a system of competing nation-states immersed in a global economy. This is an unworkable combination. A global economy requires cooperation based on common interest, while competition among nations assumes conflicting interests.

Who could have imagined 19 months ago that it would take more than a year and a half of Israel slaughtering and starving Gaza’s children for the first cracks to appear in what has been a rock-solid wall of support for Israel from western establishments.

Just as German Social Democrats joined the Nazis in singing Deutschland Uber Alles, ANDREW MURRAY observes how Starmer tries to out-Farage Farage with anti-migrant policies — but evidence shows Reform voters come from Tories, not Labour, making this ploy morally bankrupt and politically pointless

ON May 17 1933 Adolf Hitler, then three months into his burgeoning Nazi dictatorship, addressed a Reichstag already purged of its Communist representatives.

For nearly 19 months, Israel, with financial, technological and political support from the US and Europe, has attacked every single hospital in Gaza. The Israeli military has destroyed every aspect of Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure; executed paramedics and threw them into mass graves; and hunted, threatened, kidnapped, tortured and killed medical workers, skilled physicians and hospital directors.
Thursday, 15 May 2025 — Drop Site
The Israeli military is on an escalated killing rampage in Gaza. Since dawn today, over 100 Palestinians have been killed in airstrikes across the enclave. At least 77 were killed the day before. Massacres of over 50 Palestinians at a time, nearly half of them children, are being conducted. Hospitals are being openly bombed. Journalists assassinated.

Dear friends,
Greetings from the desk of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research.
Over the past weeks, international focus has no doubt been on the escalation between India and Pakistan, which we will write more about once the dust settles. Though none of the armies crossed the border or the Line of Control, concern is nonetheless understandable: both countries wield nuclear weapons in their arsenal. Now, there has effectively been a return to the ceasefire of 1948, which has lingered in the decades since without a proper and full peace treaty. International attention has also rightly remained on the genocide in Palestine, with Israelis tightening the total siege on Gaza, perhaps as vengeance for Palestinians’ return to northern Gaza on 27 January 2025 in total defiance of the genocidal war.
Thursday, 15 May 2025 — Global Delinquents
On May 1st, The Times reported that Britain’s Intelligence and Security Committee, a parliamentary body intended to supervise and appraise the work of London’s assorted spying agencies, was facing a funding “crisis” so severe it may be forced to cease functioning outright. Moreover, in a remarkable statement, current ISC chair Lord Beamish fulminated that the Committee’s work was “being undermined by continued interference by the Cabinet Office,” the British government’s most powerful component, within which the ISC is based, but also meant to scrutinise:

How will the war end? The position of Ukraine and NATO continues to go from bad to worse, yet there is still a reluctance to engage in genuine discussions. There is subsequently a growing possibility that there will eventually be a collapse of the government in Ukraine, which would allow Moscow to dictate the political settlement. Yet, even as the situation goes from bad to worse, the Europeans and Ukraine are reluctant to engage with Russia in genuine negotiations. Part of the problem is evidently the extent of demands from the Russian side, although the Russian demands will only grow as the war drags on.
