NEWS

1. Kropotkin competition!
To help celebrate the publication of the new Freedom Press Kropotkin essay collection ‘Kropotkin: Anarchism & The State’ (for which we are having a launch event – see events programme below), we’re doing a little competition!

To win a 1913 English language edition of Kropotkin’s classic ‘The Conquest of Bread’, here published by Chapman and Hall, simply complete this quote, taken from the book:
“No more of such vague formulas as “The Right to work,” or “To each the whole result of his labour.” What we proclaim is __________________________!”
Send your answer by email to nik@housmans.com and please put Kropotkin Competition in the subject field. A winner will be chosen at random by Monday 26th July.

2. Housmans co-manager Catherine Barter’s debut novel ‘Troublemakers’

Housmans co-manager Catherine Barter has just had her first novel published! Troublemakers (Anderson Press) is a “thought-provoking, richly layered YA novel about politics, love, grief and coming of age.” (Imogen Russell Williams, The Guardian). Although aimed at the YA audience, it’s getting great reviews from older readers too!

Available in all good bookshops, and also in some terrible online ones – but for a signed copy and maximum pennies into under-paid Catherine’s pockets you can buy online from Housmans here: http://www.housmans.com/books.php
