Chris Jordan (USA), Crushed Cars #2 Tacoma, 2004

    Dear friends,

Greetings from the desk of the Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research.

It is perhaps fitting that United States President Joe Biden arrived in Glasgow for the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) on the climate catastrophe with eighty-five cars in tow months after declaring ‘I’m a car guy’ (for details on the climate catastrophe, see our Red Alert no. 11, ‘Only One Earth’). Only three countries in the world have more cars per person than the US, and these countries (Finland, Andorra, and Italy) have a much smaller population than the United States.

Protestors at venue of Glasgow summit on climate change

The Glasgow summit on climate change has been a media extravaganza. The ruling elites from all continents cooped up in their national capitals due to the raging pandemic, finally got a break to throw away their masks and take to their private jets to fly off to “Global Britain” to display their leadership qualities.

A New Politics to Fight Climate Change, Racism, and the Next Pandemic

    City Lights Books, 2021

    reviewed by Don Fitz

As climate change leads humanity’s march to Armageddon, data surfacing during late 2021 suggests that the march could be much briefer than previously thought. “Nature is starting to emit greenhouse gases in competition with cars, planes, trains, and factories,” asserts Robert Hunziker. The Amazon has switched from soaking up CO2 to emitting it. Likewise, the Arctic has flipped from being a carbon sink to becoming an emission source. Permafrost is giving off the three main greenhouse gases (GHGs): CO2, methane, and nitrous oxide. So much Siberian permafrost is melting that buildings are collapsing as methane bombs explode, resulting in craters 100 feet deep.

The chances were slim that the Pakistani National Security Advisor Moeed Yusuf would accept the invitation from his counterpart Ajit Doval to a regional meet of security tsars in New Delhi to discus the situation in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan.

Anti-Asian hate is a symptom of intensifying capitalist reaction

    See 1 November 2021 —  See you in 2020

Capital can be resilient. Far more resilient than many revolutionaries have anticipated. Marx predicted that communist revolutions would initially come in the countries where the productive forces are most developed. But save for the eastern part of Germany at the cost of a catastrophic war, none of the core imperialist countries have so far undergone such revolutions. In these places, capital has held on in the face of multiple world wars, depressions, and pandemics, allowing them to continue holding back revolutions in most other places through imperialist meddling.

    An Australian horror story

    1 November 2021 — Information Clearing House

    By Jeremy Salt

The Premier of the Australian state of Victoria, Daniel Andrews, has just tabled legislation in parliament which is possibly the most monstrous ever introduced into a country calling itself democratic. Basically it gives Andrews the power to do whatever he wants and whenever he wants it. He has been turning Victoria into a police state for the past year and a half but behind the bland face and earnest manner, the legislation openly stamps him as a totalitarian psychopath.

In October 2019, in a speech at an International Monetary Fund conference, former Bank of England governor Mervyn King warned that the world was sleepwalking towards a fresh economic and financial crisis that would have devastating consequences for what he called the “democratic market system”.

    1 November 2021 — MEDACT

Wow. Last week, hundreds of you took to the streets and went into your communities to deliver the message loud and clear: we demand no borders in the NHS.

Together we are shifting the racist and nationalist tide by refusing to allow our healthcare service to become a tool of hostile immigration enforcement. We are fighting to ensure it stays true to its founding principles: that healthcare should be available to all who need it, regardless of where you’re from or your ability to pay.

Pro-democracy protestors in Sudan, Khartoum, Oct, 26, 2021

The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is a man in a hurry. The president expects him to produce foreign-policy success stories.

Success stories are desperately needed as post-Afghanistan, the superpower has become laughing stock universally. The trans-Atlantic alliance is seriously disoriented and Russia is on the prowl in the heart of Europe with natural gas to sell. The Iranians are yet to give a date for the resumption of talks on the US’ return to the JCPOA.

The COP26 conference on climate change is discussing an issue which will profoundly affect every person on our planet. Climate change, together with nuclear war, is one of the two issues which can overturn the present basis of human civilisation. Because of the extreme seriousness of this issue, the COP26 conference should therefore be an arena for strictly objective international scientific discussion and international cooperation. Fortunately, as will be seen, strictly objective scientific evidence on the issue of climate change has been put forward in the run up to the conference.

Listen: Uncovering the CIA: Whistleblower Philip Agee interviewed with John Marks (1976)

    31 October, 2021 — 21st Century Wire

    By NEWS WIRE

Philip Agee was a former Central Intelligence Agency officer who turned into one of the agency’s most vocal critics, and who exposed the inner workings of Unites States regime change and destablizations operations all over the world. During his nearly four decades in the intelligence game, Agee became disillusioned with his work for the agency, and later went on to publish numerous books including “Inside the Company: CIA Diary” (1975) which infuriated US officials after identifying some 250 officers, front companies and foreign agents working for the CIA. Agee passed away in Havana, Cuba in 2008. During his activist career, Agee inspired a new wave of publications including Covert Action Information Bulletin, as well as numerous films detailing the clandestine exploits of the American deep state.

Examining the Methods and Means of COVID Propaganda Dissemination

    8 October 2021 — Global Research

    By Gary Weglarz

It is useful to identify and examine the many facets and the all encompassing nature of American/Western propaganda systems in our efforts to better understand why so many people have great difficulty in sorting truth from fiction regarding the “covid pandemic” narratives.  The following outline and commentary are an effort to more clearly identify the ubiquitous nature of Western covid propaganda in order to better understand its impacts on the public mind.

The biggest emitters of greenhouse gases spend an average of 2.3 times as much on arming their borders as on climate finance. Some spend 15 times as much. They aim to keep migrants away, rather than addressing the causes of displacement.

As we approach a winter of discontent and Global food systems go from bad to worse, there’s trouble in paradise.

At the root of these problems, Government responses to COVID-19 have contributed to a six-fold increase in famine-like conditions as global supply chains collapse, and field trials for gene-edited crops and farm animals begin in the UK.
