It was opportune that I delayed the article on the geopolitical situation in the light of the drone attacks on Russian strategic bombers, one leg of its nuclear triad, the other two being submarines and inter- continental ballistic missiles. This attack by small drones launched from trucks adjacent to five airfields is the first focused attack on nuclear assets in the nuclear age. It crosses a line. The aircraft were parked in the open so they could be identified under the Start and Salt Agreements in force until 2026 making them easy targets.

Between April 2021 and October 2024, British physicist Michael de Podesta paid £40 per month to carbon capture company Climeworks. In return, the company promised to remove 50 kilograms of carbon dioxide each month. But in September 2024, de Podesta wrote that “when I checked the other day they had removed precisely no CO₂ from the atmosphere”.
