h3>1. Vacancy: Housmans Events Host. 12hrs/month

We have an opening at Housmans Bookshop for the role of Evening Events Host. The primary role of the events host will be to act as a host at our evening events; this will involve welcoming guests, introducing speakers, moderating Q&A sessions, and helping with other tasks required to run the shop during an event.

2. Peace House 60th Anniversary: your memories and anecdotes wanted!

This November, Peace House, the building in which Housmans occupies the ground floor and basement, celebrates 60 years* since it was taken over by Peace News Trustees, for the purpose of providing a home for peace movement organisations and fellow travellers. We will be celebrating the anniversary in a variety of ways (watch this space!), but in the meantime we would welcome your memories and anecdotes of the building, and of Housmans in particular, to help form part of a history project that is happening in relation to the anniversary.

We’d encourage you to write whatever comes to mind, long or short, but some possible leading questions might be:  What drew you to Housmans initially? Any particular memories of the shop from the past? What ideas has Housmans opened you up to? That kind of thing. Please email your thoughts and memories to nik@housmans.com. Thank you!

*Housmans is older, established in 1945, but we’ve been in this building since 1959.

3. The Little Rebels Children’s Book Award Shortlist 2019

The Little Rebels Children’s Book Award is a prize for radical fiction aimed at children aged 0-12, facilitated by Housmans Bookshop and Letterbox Library on behalf of the Alliance of Radical Booksellers.

4. Easter Closures

Over the Easter weekend Housmans will be closed on Friday 19th April and also on Monday 22nd, but we will be open over the weekend, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st.
