Ukraine Is A Sacrificial Pawn On The Imperial Chessboard

Sunday, 6 March 2022 — Caitlin Johnson

Listen to a reading of this article:

The war is not going well for Kyiv, and it would be unreasonable to expect that to change. As a vastly superior military force overwhelms the US client state, reality is in the process of crashing down hard in the face of western liberals who bought into the war propaganda that the brave, sexy comedian was leading an upset victory to kick Putin’s ass out of Ukraine.

Capitalism’s fallen angels

Sunday, 6 March 2022 — Michael Roberts Blog

In several previous posts, I have highlighted what are called ‘zombie’ companies (companies whose regular profits do not even cover the cost of servicing their outstanding debts) and so must, to paraphrase former BoE governor Mark Carney, depend on the kindness of their creditors”. An OECD study found that such zombies take up a frighteningly large part of the economy. Across the nine European countries they studied, the share of the total private capital stock ‘sunk’ in zombie companies ranges from 5 to 20 per cent. In this sense, it is urgent that quality information be disseminated to the Western audience to avoid the proliferation of lies about the Ukrainian reality.

The New York Times recently published an article by David Sanger entitled “Putin spins a conspiracy theory that Ukraine is on a path to produce nuclear weapons.” Unfortunately, it is Sanger who puts so much spin in his reporting that he leaves his readers with a grossly distorted version of the what the presidents of Russia and Ukraine have said and done.

The fascist mythology behind the demonization of Russia & its denazification effort in Ukraine

Sunday, 6 March 2022 — See You in 2020

What the headlines aren’t telling us is that if not for Russia’s intervention, the newly independent DPR and LPR would at this point likely be getting crushed by the belligerent regime Washington has installed within Ukraine. Not only that, but the ethnic Russians within the Donbass region would be subjected to an even more severe genocide than they already have been. This was essentially articulated last month by a DPR pro-independence activist, who said that “We can’t live in the same country as the Nazis. We can’t forgive all that we experienced through the years. How can I live in one country with those who killed my loved ones?”
