Cuba is Not a Sponsor of Terror!

Tuesday, 19 July 2022 — Code Pink

A crucial policy of the Trump administration remains, and that is Cuba’s presence on the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.  It is critical to Cuba’s ability to pursue economic, trade and humanitarian activities that it be removed immediately from the list – a power well within Biden’s authority.  Please sign our petition to the White House calling for Cuba to be removed from the list.

Ukraine News Links 18-19 July 2022

Tuesday, 19 July 2022 • 18:00 — The New Dark Age

There may be some duplication due to cross-posting and may be updated throughout the day, so please check back. If it gets updated, I usually insert the time on the line above. A lot of cross-posting usually indicates that the article is popular and some links may not work, depending on your location but I’ve kept them anyway, so at least the reader has some idea of the scale of censorship now operating in the ‘democratic’ West.

The Biggest Lie The Hawks Ever Sold: Notes From The Edge Of The Narrative Matrix

Tuesday, 19 July 2022 — Caitlin Johnson

Caitlin Johnstone

Listen to a reading of this article:

The US is the only nation on earth whose entire economy is built on arms manufacturing and security guarantees to tyrannical Gulf states. It’s not just correct to call the US empire a uniquely evil power structure, it’s correct to say it’s impossible for it not to be.

UKRAINIAN ARTILLERYMEN! THE BLOOD OF CHILDREN IS ON YOUR HANDS

Sunday, July 17, 2022 — Youtube

The summer of 2022 turned out to be terrible for Rubezhnoe, Severodonetsk, Kremennaya, Lisichansk. The retreating Ukrainian militants, without hiding, told the locals that they would wipe these cities off the face of the Earth, burn and destroy everything behind them. And these were not empty threats, having left Rubezhnoye and gained a foothold in Lisichansk, the “warriors” from the AFU began to shell residential areas of the city, in fact, to take revenge on civilians. And innocent residents died under the indiscriminate fire. And the worst thing was that children were dying.

Another tragedy occurred on June 4. A 14-year-old child was killed by the artillery fire of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His mother and younger brother told about it.

It’s a very difficult story.

The Avdeevka Issue

Tuesday, 19 July 2022 — The Van Says…

Avdeevka
As Russian and Donbass forces slowly encircle the town of Avdeevka, another inevitable defeat awaits the Ukrainians soldiers who still remain there.

Preamble

In spite of the successes that both Russian and Donbass forces have enjoyed further north, the city of Donetsk is still being pounded from the nearby town of Avdeevka, this allowing Ukrainian forces to attack civilian areas with artillery and missiles, little apparently being done to solve an increasingly pressing issue. This article will look at the situation and explain why this threat still exists. For those who wish to follow this story day by day, the Rybar channel whilst principally in Russian does publish daily updates in English, this post being relevant to the situation in the area under examination.

Three Other Writers With Thoughts On Ukraine

Monday, 18 July 2022 — Moon of Alabama

Today I will point to three other writers with current thoughts around the war in Ukraine.

Yelensis of Awful Avalanche has fun with the current news from Kiev:

Ukraine War Day #145: Zelensky Surrounded By Traitors And Spies

The big news coming out of the Ukraine this past weekend: Zelensky has fired his Prosecutor-General Irina Venediktova, and also the head of the SBU (Security Agency, successor to Soviet KGB), a man named Ivan Bakanov. Both of whom used to be tight members of Zelensky’s inner circle, especially the latter.

I love the way Zel just casually tossed that out, about Ukie security forces routinely chatting with Russian military intelligence. Russophile blogosphere having a field day, natch! Maria Zakharova trolled Zelensky on Twitter, calling these dismissals “effective de-Nazification” on Zelensky’s part. Other bloggers have compared Zelensky to Stalin, in his paranoia starting to turn against his inner circle. However, to me it doesn’t even seem like paranoia, I think these Ukrainian agencies probably are riddled with Russian spies. Ukrainian government officials are so corrupt, they would do literally anything for money.

Dumb Dogs

Yap

Whilst this article looks just at America holding the leash, the picture pretty much sums up European obedience.

Preamble

This week has not seen any great developments in the Ukraine, yet an increasingly bizarre situation is developing in the West. With things being what they are, this would be a great opportunity to take a sideways look at how western nations are reacting to Russia doing as it pleases.

UK Propaganda Meets Physical Reality

Tuesday, 19 July 2022 — Geopolitics And Climate Change

He [Putin] has weaponised food, energy and refugees, spreading economic and political pain across the continent. Sanctions don’t work, a land for peace deal would be a disaster. Only the military route remains

Simon Tisdall, The Observer, July 17th 2022.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/jul/17/putin-is-already-at-war-with-europe-there-is-only-one-way-to-stop-him

As the reality of Russian victory is becoming harder to cover up by the day, the UK post-Empire desperation to “take Russia on” is shown by Mr. Tisdall above in a statement full of lies from start to finish. It’s like a corgi barking at a bear; the bulldog having being put down long ago. Coming from a pseudo-left newspaper (Gurdian/Observer) fully neutered and leashed by the British establishment after the Snowden affair.
