A livestreamed Iranian royalist chat revealed a network of foreign-educated elites plotting to plunder Iran’s economy after realizing their dream of regime change.
On 15 April 2025, as we approached Easter, the not so joyous news broke that member states have now reached an agreement on the WHO Pandemic Agreement or Treaty, with negotiations expected to be formalized in May (17-26) when each member state can then decide whether or not to sign the agreement. Notably, this Treaty has gone ahead without the inclusion of countries such as Argentina and also the United States. It is now well known that President Trump signed an Executive Order to pull the USA out of the agreement owing to the ‘mishandling of the Covid-19 pandemic’ and concerns of China’s ‘inappropriate political influence’. Moreover, federal health officials are also prevented from contributing to talks with WHO, due to concerns it is a harmful organization. So what does this WHO Pandemic Agreement mean for the UK and the rest of the world?
The attack on Ben Gurion Airport, the downing of U.S. drones, and attacks on naval vessels show that the Houthi movement has remained resilient despite months of bombing

On the morning of May 4, a ballistic missile launched by the Yemeni militant group Ansar Allah, also known as the Houthis, exploded hundreds of meters from the main terminal of David Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv. Israeli and U.S. air defense batteries failed to intercept the missile, which sent travelers and staff scrambling in panic. The impact temporarily shut down operations at Israel’s most important international airport, as major foreign carriers announced that they have suspended flights to the country.
On May 6th, Donald Trump made the shock announcement that the US was abandoning all hostilities against Yemen. A vast, multi-billion naval and air campaign officials in Washington had pledged would last “indefinitely” has abruptly ended, in return for AnsarAllah pledging not to attack American shipping in the Red Sea. While the President has bragged the Resistance group “capitulated” to his administration’s renewed, much-intensified belligerence and “don’t want to fight any more”, the reality is that God’s Partisans have once again defeated the Empire.
In 1948, the newly proclaimed Israeli government seized 78% of Palestinian land and expelled more than half of the population (750,00 people) from their villages and towns. This act disregarded United Nations General Assembly Resolution 181 (1947), which called for the termination of the colonial British Mandate and the partition of Palestine into a Palestinian and a Jewish state. This process came to be known as the Nakba (Catastrophe).
It’s day 580 of Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Join us at 5 pm UK time for the weekly livestream from The Electronic Intifada.

This message delivers the sad news that the Genetic Technology (Precision Breeding) Regulations were agreed by the House of Lords earlier in the week despite them being – in the words of Green Peer Natalie Bennett – “deeply flawed.” We expect the Regulations to come into effect in six months, having already been passed by the House of Commons.
Burkina Faso’s Ibrahim Traoré is remaking his nation, and in the process, making enemies in the West. Since taking power in 2022, the young military leader has expelled French troops, ejected Western corporations, and aligned his country with Russia, Cuba, and Venezuela.
Recently introduced anti-protest legislation has been ruled unlawful in the courts this week, in a major defeat for the government. What is ‘serious disruption’ and why does it matter?
In June 2023, the then Home Secretary Suella Braverman created a new legal definition of “serious disruption” that sets the legal bar for the use of certain police powers. Police are only supposed to interfere with the right to protest if it is deemed necessary and proportionate to prevent “serious disruption to the life of the community”.
The US Food and Drug Administration has greenlighted CRISPR gene-edited pigs, engineered to resist the respiratory virus known as porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome, or PRRS, for consumption in the US. The virus thrives on intensive factory farms and kills piglets in the womb. The pigs were developed by the British company Genus. After the approval, the company’s stock value jumped up by a couple of hundred million dollars on the London Stock Exchange. According to Matt Culbertson, chief operating office of the Pig Improvement Company, a Genus subsidiary, the pigs appear entirely immune to more than 99% of the known versions of the PRRS virus, although there is one rare subtype that may break through the protection. Culbertson says gene-edited pork could appear in the US market sometime next year. He says the company does not think the meat will need to carry any label identifying it as GM. “We aren’t aware of any labelling requirement,” Culbertson says. MIT Technology Review (paywall)

Black people among the rich and famous garner praise and love, and so do those amongst us in distress. Concerns for the masses of people and their struggles are often missing.
The BBC’s role is not to keep viewers informed. It’s to persuade them a clear crime against humanity by Israel is, in fact, highly complicated geopolitics they cannot hope to understand
You can tell how bad levels of starvation now are in Gaza – as the population there begins the third month of a complete aid blockade by Israel – because last night the BBC finally dedicated a serious chunk of its main news programme, the News at Ten, to the issue.
A widespread narrative holds that tillage (ploughing) can increase greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by disturbing the soil and releasing stored carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere, as well as increasing nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions. GMO proponents often claim that GM herbicide-tolerant corn and soy have enabled uptake of no-till or minimum-till farming, saving soil from erosion, increasing carbon sequestration in soil, reducing GHG emissions, and thus contributing positively to “regenerative” farming. But a new report from Friends of the Earth (FoE), Rethinking No-Till, refutes the widely held assumption that no-till automatically equals “regenerative”. Indeed, the report shows that not only does GMO-based no-till fail to solve the climate crisis, but it is part of the problem. The report also finds that most no-till systems are so heavily dependent on toxic herbicides to manage weeds that a staggering one-third of the US’s total annual pesticide use can be attributed to no- and minimum-till GM corn and soy production alone. The FoE report comes hot on the heels of a peer-reviewed study published in Nature Food, showing that GM crops have led to increased tillage and greenhouse gas emissions in US corn and soy. GMWatch

After the UK adopted a new policy that it would not allow any weapons shipments that could be used in Gaza, Britain’s Labour government allowed the export of 8,630 separate munitions to Israel.
To lose a child is so very painful. It is not the right order of this world.
However, to lose a child and then discover it was avoidable is the worst pain ever.
Our legal challenge will be heard in Court on May 13th over the GMC’s failure to properly regulate Physician Associates (PAs) and Anaesthesia Associates (AAs). The case is being brought by the bereaved parents of Emily Chesterton and by Anaesthetists United.
I’ve yet to see Lavrov in his state uniform with his awards. One would think that on this occasion he’d be dressed in that attire, but as you see he’s wearing his usual business suit uniform. The occasion is the MFA’s own Wreath Laying Ceremony that takes place inside its building. After Russia’s anthem plays during the video’s opening minute, Lavrov delivers his speech without notes or teleprompter. It’s rather different from what we usually hear as you’ll experience if you listen to him. It would’ve been nice if the video showed more than the speech, the ceremony itself specifically. (more…)
