The Notorious London Spy School Churning Out Many of the World’s Top Journalists

4 June 2021 — MintPress News

    An unhealthy respect for authority

The fact that the very department that trains high state officials and agents of secretive three letter agencies is also the place that produces many of the journalists we rely on to stand up to those officials and keep them in check is seriously problematic.

The School That Tried to End Racism: A cruel experiment in furtherance of identity politics

10 July 2020 — WSWS

By Margot Miller

Channel 4’s two-part documentary, The School That Tried to End Racism, centres on events during the filming of a group of Year 7 (eleven- and twelve-year-old) pupils over three weeks in April last year.

The pupils were subjected to a cruel experiment, but this was positively described by the programme’s narrator as a “ground-breaking initiative” concerning racial bias.

Media Lens: A Tale Of Two Titans – Jon Snow of C4 News And Jeremy Bowen of BBC News

11 July 2014 — Media Lens

On July 4, Independence Day in the United States, Channel 4 News broadcast a Jon Snow interview with Hillary Clinton, former US Secretary of State and presumed presidential candidate. For a self-proclaimed ‘pinko liberal’ like Snow, this was a glorious opportunity to ask hard-hitting questions about US foreign policy and Clinton’s own role in shoring up the American Empire.

Media Lens: Thinking The Right Thoughts By David Cromwell & David Edwards

15 May 2014 — Media Lens

There are always convenient news-hooks on which corporate journalists can hang their power-friendly prejudices about the West being ‘the good guys’ in world affairs. Channel 4 News is not immune from this chauvinism. For example, Matt Frei introduced a report about last month’s elections in Iraq with this propaganda bullet:

West Drops Syria WMD Narrative As Evidence Points to Western-Armed Terrorists

24 March 2013Land Destroyer

013 (LD) – For the US, UK, France, and its regional partners including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar, nothing would have suited their interests more than if the recent chemical attack reported in Aleppo Syria turned out to be (or could have been portrayed as being) the work of the Syrian government, or even “loose” weapons that had fallen into the hands of Al Qaeda terrorists the West both arms and condemns simultaneously.

Media Lens: When Populism Is Dangerous For Democracy – To The Media Gallows With ‘Controversial’ George Galloway

3 April 2012 — Media Lens

George Galloway’s stunning victory in last week’s Bradford West by-election afforded a rare opportunity to witness naked imbalance, establishment scorn of any challenges, and blatant anti-Muslim propaganda in the corporate British media.

Government bought and sold by Murdoch’s News Corp

27 February 2012

This from Channel 4‘s email today;

Corruption across Whitehall! Three words I never expected to put in one sentence, but the evidence of Deputy Assistant Commissioner Sue Akers from Scotland Yard at the Leveson Inquiry is complete dynamite. DAC Akers is leading the investigation into allegations that employees of Rupert Murdoch‘s News International ran a covert, systemic operation in which they paid huge sums to public officials in the police, the military, the Department of Health and many other areas of Whitehall. The payments were dressed up and in at least one case involved sums as high as £80,000.

Three words John Snow never expected to hear in one sentence, “Corruption across Whitehall”? Who is he kidding! We have a government owned, lock, stock and smoking barrel by big business. Corruption is rife at every level.

British Media Propaganda Aims at Triggering NATO Military Intervention against Syria By Tony Cartalucci

18 December 2011 — Global Research landdestroyer.blogspot.com

Channel 4 makes Goebbels proud with conveniently timed propaganda piece.

With the UN’s recent “human rights” report falling flat, for lack of evidence and being compiled by Karen Koning AbuZayd, a director of the US Washington-based corporate think-tank, Middle East Policy Council, that includes Exxon men, CIA agents, US military and government representatives, and even the president of the US-Qatar Business Council, the corporate-media has stepped in to give faces and screams to the alleged victims of Wall Street and London’s premeditated implosion of Syrian society.

The truth about ‘civilized transitions’ By William Bowles

16 May 2011

“What about giving Gaddafi an exit strategy?” — Channel 4 News presenter to somebody or other, 16 May, 2011

This is what it comes down to: A TV ‘news’ presenter reveals in all its starkness, how the Empire corrupts totally. Here we have an apparently intelligent and educated person dismissing the leader of a country as if he’s just another expendable piece of the Empire’s junk. ‘Yeah, why you don’t just get rid of him, make him go away’. It’s absolutely outrageous that we accept this kind of rubbish and it’s echoed right across the MSM (see below).

Media Lens: What Happened To Academia? – Part 1

14 December, 2010 — Media Lens

Exchanges With Piers Robinson of The University Of Manchester

What happened to academia? In 2008, Terry Eagleton, formerly Professor of English Literature at Manchester University, wrote:

“By and large, academic institutions have shifted from being the accusers of corporate capitalism to being its accomplices. They are intellectual Tescos, churning out a commodity known as graduates rather than greengroceries.” (Eagleton, ‘Death of the intellectual,’ Red Pepper, October 2008)

He added:

“The logic of the commodity has now penetrated into the sphere of human needs and nurture, breeding pathological symptoms there. In universities, as in transnational corporations, a largely disaffected labour force confronts a finance-obsessed managerial elite.”

Media Lens: Too Toxic to Handle? Follow-up Alert on Israel’s Policy of Near-Starvation for Gaza

2 December 2010 — Media Lens

On November 17, we sent out a media alert that highlighted the corporate media’s lack of interest in official documents revealing Israel’s deliberate policy of near-starvation for Gaza.

The documents had been obtained by Gisha, an Israeli human rights group, which won a legal battle in October to compel the Israeli government to release the information. The state policy relates to the transfer of goods into Gaza prior to the May 31, 2010 attack on the peace flotilla in which nine people were killed by Israeli forces. Israel still refuses to release documents on the current blockade policy, now supposedly “eased” following worldwide condemnation of the flotilla attack.

Zionist Control of Britain’s Government: 1940-2009 By William A. Cook

19 November, 2009 — The Palestine Chronicle

‘After so many years of setting the tone, bribing UK politicians and controlling the BBC they (Zionists) are used to being untouchable.’ (Gilad Atzmon, ‘Britain Must de-Zionist Itself Immediately,’ Nov. 17, 2009, MWC News).

This week the British people listened to the Daily Mail’s Peter Oborne present, on Channel 4, his devastating account of the Jewish lobby’s control of their government. Now we know that virtually all the principal politicians in the UK of both parties, like their brothers across the lake in our House and Senate, take ‘contributions’ from the Israeli lobby machine ensuring that the Anglo-American mid-east policies follow the dictates of the Israeli government. Gilad Atzmon responded to this report in his article ‘Britain must de-Zionise itself immediately,’ noting that this control has been in place for so many years the lobby feels ‘untouchable.’

How many years are ‘many’ one might ask? In 1941, the High Commissioner of Palestine, Harold MacMichael, Senior Palestine Mandate officer for the British Mandate forces in Palestine, sent the following ‘Top Secret’ ‘Memorandum on the Participation of the Jewish National Institutions in Palestine in Acts of Lawlessness and Violence’ to the Secretary of State, dated October 16th, a report prepared by The Palestine Police, Criminal Investigation Department:

Channel 4 Dispatches investigates The pro-Israel lobby in Britain

16 November, 2009 – Middle East Monitor

The pro-Israel lobby in Britain: FULL TEXT

Dispatches investigates the pro-Israel lobby in Britain which is working in support of the interests of the State of Israel. We have obtained a full copy of this by Peter Oborne and James Jones.

Here are some extracts of the 27 page document – The pro-Israel lobby in Britain: full text Click Here to download the full document.

Chapter Two: The Pro-Israel Lobby at Westminster

The senior Tory MP David Amess recently put down a question in the House of Commons to enquire what the British government was doing to improve British relations with Israel. The reply came from Ivan Lewis, foreign office minister with special responsibility for the Middle East: ‘Israel is a close ally of the United Kingdom and we have regular warm and productive exchanges at all levels… We shall continue to foster a close relationship with Israel.’

This conversation was not quite the simple public exchange that it seemed. Neither politician mentioned that both of them had very close links to pro-Israel organizations. David Amess is the secretary of the Conservative Friends of Israel, which has been described by the famous Conservative Party politician and historian Robert Rhodes James as ‘the largest organization in Western Europe dedicated to the cause of the people of Israel.’

The Conservative Prime Minister Harold MacMillan once remarked that ‘there are three bodies no sensible man ever directly challenges: the Roman Catholic Church, the Brigade of Guards and the National Union of Mineworkers.’ It is tempting to speculate that today he might have added the Conservative Friends of Israel to that list.
