Obama Has Also Committed War Crimes

Video: FAIR TV: PBS and Koch, Guatemala and the U.S. Role and Rumsfeld Meets the Press

25 May 2013 — FAIR Blog

This week: PBS won’t be showing us the documentary Citizen Koch–for some very dubious reasons. Also: The New York Times points out that the U.S. role in supporting genocide in Guatemala was hardly discussed at the trial; the same goes for U.S. media coverage of that trial. And Donald Rumsfeld goes on Meet the Press to talk about accountability. No, it’s not what you think.

Video: BBC-Guardian Expose Uses WikiLeaks to Link Iraq Torture Centers

29 March 2013 — NationofChange

A shocking new report by The Guardian and BBC Arabic details how the United States armed and trained Iraqi death squads that ran torture centers. It is a story that stretches from the U.S.-backed death squads in Central America during the 1980s to the imprisoned Army whistleblower Bradley Manning.

100’s of Terrorists Land on Beaches, Western Media Mute

By Tony Cartalucci

The West’s woeful, irresponsible coverage of a burgeoning region-wide destabilization, fits in nicely with its coverage of US-Saudi funded/armed terrorism around the world, including in Syria.

Secret Memo by Donald Rumsfeld Proves Iraq War Started On False Pretenses

20 February 2013 — Washington’s Blog

Newly-Released

Everyone Knew Iraq Had No WMD … and Was Not Behind Anthrax Attacks or 9/11

Everyone knew that Iraq didn’t have weapons of mass destruction.

Indeed, Secretary of State Colin Powell’s chief of staff – Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson – just said that Powell knew that there were no WMDs: I wonder what will happen when we put 500,000 troops into Iraq and comb the country from one end to the other and find nothing

The 9/11 Plan: Cheney, Rumsfeld and the “Continuity of Government” By Paul Schreyer

28 January, 2013 — Global Research

“If a mandarinate ruled America, the recruiting committee on September 11 would have had to find someone like Cheney.” — Washington Post author Barton Gellman in his book “Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency”

Terrorism. Emergency plans. Political careers. The history of 9/11 can be written from many angles.

The Spirit of Christmas: George W. Bush and Tony Blair banned from the Birthplace of Jesus Christ By Prof Michel Chossudovsky

24 December, 2012Global Research

War criminals George W. Bush and Tony Blair were banned for life in April 2003 from the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem, widely believed to be the birth-place of Jesus Christ. The ban was announced at the height of the illegal US-allied bombing and invasion of Iraq.

Below are the original 2003 press reports pertaining to that decision as well as a subsequent introductory note published by Global Research in December 2006. Continue reading

The Unanswered Questions of 9/11 By James Corbett

11 September 2012 — Global Research – James Corbett – corbettreport.com

wtc

In his latest weekly address to the nation, President Obama asserts that America’s questions about 9/11 have been answered. If only it were so.

The questions of 9/11 have only continued to pile up higher since that fateful day, and despite official platitudes we are no closer to having those questions answered today then we were when they first arose. In fact, for some of the most important 9/11 questions, the government’s own documents and records that could conceivably answered them have been destroyed, meaning we may never have answers.

Family Values and One Last Act of Magic By Dan Hind

7 May, 2011 — The Return of the Public

So, Osama bin Laden is dead.

It is a cliche to say that the popular uprisings against dictatorship in Egypt, Syria, Bahrain and elsewhere had marginalised him. The fusion of political Islam and spectacular terrorism for which he was the figurehead no longer holds out the prospect of radical transformation. Mohamed Bouazizi’s decision to set himself on fire in December of 2010 has done far more to change the culture and politics of the Middle East than any number of suicide bombers.

‘Ex-Georgian Defense Minister Blames Saakashvili for War With Russia in Russified South Ossetia'

TMPress International Newswire
TMPress ™ – United News & Press Features

(TMPress International – New York – September 14, 2008) – As the picture becomes clearer to the EU/West despite the Russophobic media and the White House chastising of Russian intentions in the North Caucuses and the reality of newly Independent Republics of South Ossetia and Abkhazia … it now appears very certain that Georgian President Saakashvili had long planned a military strike against the Russian Autonomous Regions to seize back the breakaway territory starting with South Ossetia, but executed it very poorly. This made it quite easy for Russia to retaliate and claim the ‘moral high ground’ … according to Saakashvili’s former defense minister until 2007.

Georgia: The West's Phantom Pains By Elena Ponomareva

Source: Strategic Culture Foundation

New talks on the settlement of the conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia opened in Moscow on September 8, exactly one month after the massacre perpetrated by Georgian President M. Saakashvili, whom former German Foreign Minister and Vice Chancellor Joschka Fischer had described as “the irresponsible fool from the Tbilisi presidential palace”. As decided at the snap EU Summit a week ago, the EU was represented by French President N. Sarkozy, French Foreign Minister B. Kouchner, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana. Russia was represented by Russian President D. Medvedev, Foreign Minister S. Lavrov, First Vice Prime Minister I. Shuvalov, and Aide to the President Sergey Prikhodko.

The agenda, though broadly known, reflected a surprisingly narrow-minded and biased thinking. The EU politicians with their unsophisticated vision seem unable even to identify – least to condemn – the actual aggressor. They cannot admit that the mad Tbilisi ruler who has sent Georgia’s NATO-sponsored army to South Ossetia and thus inflicted unprecedented disgrace on his country is in fact their creature.

The BBC back-peddles big time or how to completely rewrite history before the ink’s even dried By William Bowles

29 October 2007

Question: When is a Plan not a Plan?

Answer: When the Plan is not a Plan, Plan

The BBC is currently flighting a programme in two parts entitled ‘No Plan, No Peace – the Inside Story of Iraq’s Descent into Chaos’ (28 and 29 October on BBC1).

Way back and many times inbetween I have asserted that there was never meant to be a plan (at least in the generally accepted sense of the word) and indeed in 2003, the Bush regime stated that deposing Saddam was never about ‘nation-building’:

‘To make it clear that a post-war U.S. military operation in Iraq is not a nation-building exercise, the Bush Administration should state that the U.S. military will be deployed to Iraq to secure the vital U.S. security interests for which the campaign is undertaken in the first place. Specifically, these war aims should be to:

‘Protect Iraq’s energy infrastructure against internal sabotage or foreign attack to return Iraq to global energy markets and ensure that U.S. and world energy markets have access to its resources.’ – In Post-War Iraq, Use Military Forces to Secure Vital U.S. Interests, Not for Nation-Building by Baker Spring and Jack Spencer. Backgrounder #1589, September 25, 2002 www.heritage.org/Research/MiddleEast/bg1589.cfm%00

The Great Pretender By William Bowles

31 May 2003

As per usual, the corporate press are up to their old tricks of divorcing ‘facts’ from causes. So now, failing ‘smoking guns’, bland dismissals that the ‘it’s all about oil’ arguments as ‘nonsense’, imperialist strategies, possibly, et al, we arrive at the final ‘destination’ of the corporate media whereby, through some process known only to the corporate press, Iraqis are transformed into ‘Victims’ (London Independent, 24/05/03). Once they’ve been transformed into mere ‘bit parts’ with minor, walk-on roles (mostly on crutches), they can be added to the catalogue of the ‘victims’ of the various and sundry wars currently taking place but without anyone actually taking responsibility for it, except, as we shall see, the poor bloody ‘victim’.
