EU Drift – Destination Unknown (I)

01.09.2012 | 00:00 | Pyotr ISKENDEROV

At the moment, the EU is visibly divided at the face of the crisis. One of the camps comprises the embattled Mediterranean countries plus the predominantly agrarian Ireland, all of whom are sinking into a debt crisis which their populations begin to blame on secret global forces which allegedly engineered the crisis and massively benefit from bailout-linked speculations  rather than on their respective national governments. The other camp – Germany, the Netherlands, and Finland – slam their EU southern peers over reckless policies and spendings… Continue reading

Bad results of humanitarian intervention practice

8 March 2012 — Voice of Russia

Republican Senator John McCain this week called for air strikes against Damascus. According to AFP, he said that it is necessary to disable the Syrian air defense system, at least in some parts of the country, to “establish and defend safe havens in Syria“. McCain makes no attempt to conceal the purpose of these “safe zones”. They could be used by an armed opposition to “organize and plan political and military activities”. The American politician openly advocated providing military assistance to the militants, “including weapons and ammunition.”

Kosovo Serbs Caught in Crossfire from Three Points

25.02.2012 | 00:00 | Pyotr ISKENDEROV

The debates over Serbia’s bid for the status of a EU candidate, which are due to open in Brussels in March, will likely provoke a new round of destabilization in the Serbian districts of the province. The February 14-15 referendum in four Serbian communities in northern Kosovo confirmed the obvious: their populations continue to overwhelmingly reject the Albanian ethnic rule… One gets a distinct impression that the Kosovo Serbs are in the process of switching to a completely independent role in the Balkan politics, challenging Pristina, Brussels or, if necessary, Belgrade…

Truly Disgusting – the West in Kosovo

11.02.2012 | 00:00 | Aleksandar PAVIC
In the tantrums thrown by the Western powers in the wake of the Russo-Chinese veto of their UN Security Council resolution on Syria, the US’s UN Ambassador, Susan Rice, expressed «disgust» at these two states’ behavior. In addition to these kinds of «hysterics» – as Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov so aptly described them – being calculated to rally the global media further against the two Eurasian giants, they also serve the purpose of directing attention away from the West’s own disastrous intervention track record. On February 8, just four days after the failed Syria resolution, the UNSC had a chance to discuss another Western interventionist «success story» – Kosovo

The Truth Behind the Coming “Regime Change” in Syria By Shamus Cooke

24 January, 2012Global Research

After meeting again to decide Syria’s fate, the Arab League again decided to extend its “monitoring mission” in Syria. However, some Arab League nations under U.S. diplomatic control are clamoring for blood. These countries — virtual sock puppets of U.S. foreign policy — want to declare the Arab League monitoring mission “a failure,” so that military intervention — in the form of a no fly zone — can be used for regime change.
