RAY McGOVERN: Russiagate’s Last Gasp

29 June 2020 — Consortium News

One can read this most recent flurry of Russia, Russia, Russia paid the Taliban to kill GIs as an attempt to pre-empt the findings into Russiagate’s origins.

By Ray McGovern Special to Consortium News

On Friday The New York Times featured a report based on anonymous intelligence officials that the Russians were paying bounties to have U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan with President Donald Trump refusing to do anything about it.  The flurry of Establishment media reporting that ensued provides further proof, if such were needed, that the erstwhile “paper of record” has earned a new moniker — Gray Lady of easy virtue.

UK confirms it will not align with EU chemicals agency

26 June 2020 — The Chemical Engineer

by Amanda Doyle

Staff Reporter, The Chemical Engineer

THE UK Government has said that it will not align with EU chemicals policy, instead bringing in its own controversial system.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has confirmed that the UK will implement its own version of the EU chemical regulatory system, REACH, at the end of the Brexit transition period on 31 December. The UK is still operating under EU REACH until then, but has no say on the regulations. Despite calls from industry to align with the European regulatory system, the UK Government will implement a UK REACH run by Defra and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), replacing the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). The plans for UK REACH have previously been called “vague and insufficient”.

How the Dutch prosecution and the judge have rigged the outcome of the MH17 trial on a charge that requires no proof

22 June 22, 2020 — Dances with Bears

by John Helmer, Moscow
@bears_with [1]

The Dutch Government has devised an evidence-proof scheme for ensuring the trial of the Russian government for the destruction of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 will end in a conviction.

This scheme will work without evidence to prove that the four men accused of the crime of shooting down the aircraft, killing the 298 passengers and crew on board on July 17, 2014, intended to kill; or even intended to fire the missile which allegedly brought MH17 down.

MintPress News, along with a number of independent Bolivian news outlets and journalists covering the unrest there, were all targeted for suspension at the same time.

Social media giant Twitter took the step of suspending the official account of MintPress News on Saturday. Without warning, the nine-year-old account with 64,000 followers was abruptly labeled as “fake” or “spam” and restricted. This move is becoming a frequent occurrence for alternative media, especially those that openly challenge U.S. power globally.

Inequality: The American Ethos

Black Agenda Radio with Margaret Kimberley and Glen Ford
The US has historically been a place where “fairness is adjudicated unevenly, it’s based on inequality” in which “certain people deserve more than others,” said Ampson Hagan, a doctoral student at the University of North Carolina who has made a study of “deservingness.” American political discourse has been centered around the idea that “Blacks and minorities have been agitating for things that they don’t actually deserve,” said Hagan. ‘This actually limits the horizons for everyone” and holds back acceptance of ideas like Medicare for All.”

Crackdown by UK Labour leader on left-wing rival will subdue critics of Israel in his party ahead of Israel’s annexation move

Middle East Eye – 29 June 2020

The sacking of Rebecca Long-Bailey from the UK shadow cabinet – on the grounds that she retweeted an article containing a supposedly “antisemitic” conspiracy theory – managed to kill three birds with one stone for new Labour leader Keir Starmer.

26 June 2020 — US Right to Know

by Carey Gillam

A plan to delay any new Roundup cancer claims for years and shift the key question of whether or not the weed killer causes cancer from a jury to a hand-picked panel of scientists faces potential opposition from some of the plaintiffs’ attorneys who initiated and led the mass tort claims against Roundup maker Monsanto, sources close to the litigation said.

This is the first song I ever wrote, actually co-wrote with my dear friend and musical colleague, Cheryl Byron, (1947-2003) in August 1977 following the Blackout in New York City, in my little ‘railroad’ apartment on Madison Avenue in East Harlem. It was Cheryl who actually encouraged me to write songs, I actually had no idea how at the time. We recorded it on a 4-track but unfortunately I’ve lost it! The amazing Cheryl died in 2003 and there’s a very strange story to this that I’ve appended at the end here. Here is the site of Cheryl’s group, ‘Something Positive‘, still going after all these years!

The Test Set: Another Brick in the COVID-19 Disinformation Game Plan

28 June 2020 — Global Research

Do you want the true answer, or do you want the answer given by propaganda, official government versions and the mainstream media?

I will give you the true, medical answer: the tests do not answer any of these questions, they are unreliable, they give overly simplistic answers that can be used by governments to make people believe what they want them to believe.

US-China standoff hots up as White House compares Chinese President Xi Jinping with Soviet leader Joseph Stalin

The world community can heave a sigh of relief that there isn’t going to be a new cold war between the United States and China. A Cold War needs two blocs: while Washington is unable to cobble together a bloc, Beijing is disinterested in one, lacking a bloc mentality. But isolating China in the international community is easier said than done, as the US-led globalisation is replaced by a China-led globalisation.

More evidence that under Westminster’s warped voting system, swathes of Britain can be written off

23 June 2020 — Electoral Reform Society

Josiah Mortimer
Author: Josiah Mortimer

New research has highlighted just how damaging Westminster’s warped voting system can be to our society and economy.

Analysis shows that opposition Labour councils have borne the brunt of local government cuts over the past decade, according to a report in the Guardian.

The finding provides yet more evidence that under Westminster’s broken system, some areas of the country are simply left to wither on the vine.

The Coronavirus pandemic, ecological catastrophe and global capitalism: an interlocking phenomenon

28 June, 2020 — Middle East 4 Change

by Mehdi Kia (May 14, 2019)

The COVID-19 pandemic has unravelled the close structural links between the climate crisis and the global capitalist mode of production.[1] This is a scenario that the socialist left should own as a central platform in its campaigning and organisation activities. The climate catastrophe not only has an immensely broad appeal to young and old, but is gender neutral, differentially effects the most deprived sections of society, and is by its nature international. The climate crisis directly links what is immediately effecting most people’s lives with anti-capitalism, internationalism and socialism. In short global climate catastrophe has the potential to unite all ages, mobilise the young, is inherently anti-capitalist, and does not recognise national borders. It is thus central to the revolutionary socialist agenda.

Starmer’s Love Affair with Zionism Could Prove Fatal for Labour

Sacking Corbyn’s heir-apparent for anti-Semitic ‘conspiracy’ only stokes more internal conflict

Rebecca Long Bailey 3c4ad

Sir Keir Starmer, whose scalp has been dangling on the lodge-pole of the Board of Deputies since Day One of his leadership of the Labour Party, has sacked his rival Rebecca Long-Bailey from his front bench for – apparently – indulging in “antisemitic conspiracy theories”.
