Over The Rainbow – Disneyfied News and The ‘Unprovoked’ Invasion of Ukraine

Friday, 30 September 2022 —Media Lens

Last February, Emily Maitlis left her role as presenter of the BBC’s Newsnight programme to join rival media group Global. In a recent speech, Maitlis made a surprising reference to Theresa May’s former communications director Sir Robbie Gibb:

‘Put this in the context of the BBC board, where another active agent of the Conservative Party – former Downing Street spin doctor and former adviser to BBC rival GB News – now sits, acting as the arbiter of BBC impartiality.’

The War Has Just Begun

The Winter of Yuri

Big Serge

“You should know, by and large, we haven’t even started anything yet in earnest.”

I have been attempting for several days to collect my thoughts on the Russo-Ukrainian War and condense them into another analysis piece, but my efforts were consistently frustrated by the war’s stubborn refusal to sit still. After a slow, attritional grind for much of the summer, events have begun to accelerate, calling to mind a famous quip from Vladimir Lenin: “There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.”

Watch: My interview from Donetsk on the people’s eagerness to vote to join Russia

Thursday, 29 September 2022 — Youtube

Interview I did on RT yesterday, after observing the DPR referendum (from September 23-27) on whether to join Russia. During that time, I visited areas where voting was occurring in homes/apartments to lessen the opportunity for Ukraine to shell large crowds. Wherever I went–central Donetsk, hard-hit northern & western Donetsk, hard-hit Gorlovka, Mariupol, I saw relaxed people keen to vote (as opposed to Western BS narrative about guns to their heads).

I have a lot of footage from these days which I am nearly done subtitling (I do it manually and of course can’t do so when I’m out on the streets, which I have been, so it’s taking time) and will share here soon.

Attack on Nord Stream kills prospects for dialogue in Ukraine

Wednesday, 28 September 2022 — Indian Punchline

by M. K. BHADRAKUMAR

The three leaks that were discovered on Monday at the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines connecting Russia with Germany — one after another within hours of each other in the exclusive economic zones of Sweden and Denmark — were caused by blasts. Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde tweeted that the blasts “are consequences of detonations, probably caused by sabotage. We continue to collect information and do not rule out any cause, actor or motive.”

For decades the U.S. opposed European projects to receive energy from Russia. It wants Europe to buy more expensive U.S. oil and gas.

“We battled the algorithm and won”

Meta and Twitter have been accused of censoring Palestinian voices. alexskopje/Newscom

Social media juggernaut Meta Platforms lists “Give People a Voice” as one of the principles on its website.

“People deserve to be heard and have a voice – even when that means defending the right of people we disagree with.”

It seems that Meta employees should have added “fiction writing” to their job description, however. A number of damning recent articles exposing patently unjust experiences of censorship have revealed the company to be more concerned with silencing voices – particularly Palestinian ones.

The War On Germany Just Entered Its Hot Phase

Tuesday, 27 September, 2022 — Moon of Alabama

Just yesterday I laid out how the U.S. is winning its war on Europe’s industries and people.

That war, hidden behind the U.S. created Ukraine crisis, is designed to destroy Europe’s manufacturing advantage compared to the U.S. It is more likely though to strengthen the economic position of China and other Asian economies.

Thanks to Establishment media, the sorcerer apprentices advising President Joe Biden—I refer to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, national security adviser Jacob Sullivan, and China specialist Kurt Campbell—will have no trouble rallying Americans for the widest war in 77 years, starting in Ukraine, and maybe spreading to China. And, shockingly, under false pretenses.

Millions died of hunger in British-ruled India, where ‘free trade’ took precedence over famine relief.

Fascism returns to Europe’s centerstage

The troika leading the far-right coalition that won Italy’s election: Giorgia Meloni (R), Silvio Berlusconi (C) and Matteo Salvini (L)

The stunning victory of a far-right coalition in Italy’s parliamentary election on Sunday is largely seen from the distinct prospect of Giorgia Meloni becoming the country’s next prime minister, whose hardline views on immigration and the preservation of the “Christian family” are rooted in the Italian Social Movement (MSI), a party founded after World War II by the nostalgic former members of Benito Mussolini’s fascist dictatorship.

Europe’s Economic Hara-Kiri

Sunday, 25 September 2022 — Peoples Democracy

Prabhat Patnaik

THE cessation of natural gas supplies from Russia to Europe in retaliation against Western sanctions imposed on Russia because of the Ukraine war, is threatening Europe not only with a winter with inadequate heating that will take a big toll in terms of lives among poor people, but also with large-scale closures of enterprises; such closures would push up the unemployment rate, and significantly increase poverty and destitution among the workers.
